Two spas in Vaughan have been charged for violating reopening rules in the past two weeks.
Between Oct. 4 and 17, the York Region COVID-19 enforcement task force inspected 886 businesses, resulting in eight charges.
Vaughan Spa at 566 Rivermede Rd. received three charges for individuals not wearing face masks.
Blondie Massage Spa at 435 Bowes Rd. was issued one charge for an individual not wearing a face mask.
The remaining four charges laid by the task force were issued by York Region Transit.
As a result of the inspections over the past two weeks, there were 265 compliance education activities, three of which were by the Town of Newmarket bylaw officers.
Since enforcement began in March 2020, the task force has completed 73,666 inspections and there have been 1,523 charges laid and 32,080 compliance education activities carried out.
